February 12, 2013
Sarah Howard, a 2012 graduate from Trinity Christian School, posted her first collegiate win Saturday, February 2 by throwing a personal indoor best at the Gene Anderson Invitational in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.  University of North Carolina Track and Field Head Coach Harlis Meaders was pleased with her series of throws in the shot put event at the meet.  Her winning throw of 51 feet (15.54m) also placed Sarah in the record books for UNC women’s track as the second farthest throw indoors in the school’s history.  She currently has the third best throw in the Atlantic Coast Conference.  This was the third meet of the indoor track and field season for the Tar Heels.  Sarah placed second at the previous meets with throws of 50-1 ¾ (15.28m) and 50-6 ¾ (15.41m).  UNC will travel to Lincoln, NE then host the Kent Taylor Invitational before competing at the ACC Indoor Championships Feb. 21-23.
