A new exciting state law allows you as individuals, families, and business managers/owners to redirect a portion of your Georgia income tax payments to benefit Trinity students!
To make this possible for Trinity family and friends, we are working in partnership with the Georgia GOAL Scholarship Program, a state-approved student scholarship organization.
You can receive a tax credit -- not just a deduction! -- against your Georgia income tax liability for money donated to GOAL. Maximum eligible amounts are:
Married/Joint Return - $2500
Individual/Single Return - $1000
Business - determined by type
What makes this so incredible is that you are not affecting your budget in any way...you are simply able to CHOOSE to have some of your income tax dollars donated to GOAL and designated for Trinity that you as a taxpayer were going to give to the state government anyway!
To secure your Georgia state income tax credit, you must take the first step below and file the FORM IT-QEE-TP1 before the deadline of November 1, 2009. You send no money to GOAL until you receive your approval from the Department of Revenue (DOR).
-
Complete the FORM IT-QEE-TP1 and return it to the Trinity School Office as early in 2009 as possible. We will mail it directly to the DOR for you. If you prefer to mail the form yourself, please make sure the Trinity School Office gets a copy before you mail it. (This form is necessary so the DOR can confirm that the annual state-wide $50 million cap for this program has not been exceeded.)
-
Within 30 days, you will receive a form back from the DOR approving your donation to GOAL.
-
You will then write your check payable to Georgia GOAL Scholarship Program, Inc. for the approved eligible amount, making sure to designate Trinity Christian School in the memo section and include a photocopy of your approved Form IT-QEE-TP1 (keep the original). You can mail your check directly to GOAL or bring it to the Trinity School Office so we can mail it for you.
-
Upon receiving your contribution, GOAL will send you an acknowledgement form (IT-QEE-SS01). You will include both original forms (IT-QEE-TP1 and IT-QEE-SS01) with your tax return.
-
When filing your taxes, you get a direct credit against your Georgia income taxes for the amount of your donation, AND you get a charitable tax deduction on your federal taxes as well if you itemize deductions.
What this means...you have spent NO extra money at all, you get your donation amount back because your Georgia taxes are reduced by that amount, you have exercised your right to CHOOSE for some of your tax dollars to help Trinity students, and you get an EXTRA federal tax deduction!
